If you are interested in event planning and fancy spending two days at City Hall brainstorming ideas, hearing from inspirational speakers and being in with the chance to win a share of £1000 prize, then this is event is for you.
The Enterprise Boot Camp is the Careers Service’s annual enterprise fest where you get to immerse yourself in idea generation, market research and putting your ideas to the test. Oh, and free lunch on both days – what’s not to like?
Anthony Crowther, Student Enterprise and Skills Manager, runs the event and talk to Joanie Magill about what to expect.
What’s the Careers Service Enterprise Boot Camp?
The Boot Camp is an exciting two day Apprentice-style Boot Camp where teams of students compete to design the best business venture. This year we’ll be hosted at London City Hall, and we’ll be setting a challenge to come up with the best London summer event concept.
Over the 2 days you work in teams to design a business venture from scratch doing everything from ideas generation to market research, involving you getting out on the streets of London for apprentice style challenges.
We have a range of entrepreneurial speakers to provide some inspiration and motivation, and at the end of the two days you pitch your concept to a panel of judges and the winning team takes home a £1,000 prize pot.
Why should I sign up?
There’s not just the £1,000 prize for the winning team. It’s a great fun interactive experience, and you develop some key skills which you can talk about in job applications and interviews. Plus you get free lunch on both days! And of course for 1st and 2nd Year Undergraduates this activity can be included on your HEAR.
How can I use this experience in the future?
Working in teams with people you’ve never met before, coming up with innovative solutions to problems, going out and conducting market research for your ideas. These are just some of the key skills you gain from the Boot Camp, and we know from both our own and national research with employers that these are skills that they are looking for in graduates. But they are also skills which are applicable to your course, and your other extra-curricular activities too. So not only can they help you in applying for jobs, but they can also help you in improving the activities you’re involved in at Goldsmiths as well.
When and where is it happening?
Tuesday 31 May and Wednesday 1 June 2016 09.15 – 17.00
City Hall, London SE1 2AA – View Map
